Shinta and Mike were married at the Rockleigh, in Rockleigh, NJ and I was booked just two weeks prior to the wedding. Some brides never believe me about these last minute bookings.
The Rockleigh was gorgeous. The bridal suites were huge and the grounds picturesque. The cocktail hour was a site to be seen, with ice sculptures, flowers, fruit carvings and every color exotic drink you could think of. I was so excited to start shooting but Shinta had an entourage of people attending to her. I honestly think she is a princess in Indonesia. Her hair was so elaborate and gorgeously arranged with roses that it took her 3 hours to get ready. The ceremony was pushed back and then moved inside because of the rain and my chances of working outdoors diminished into oblivion.
After the ceremony was over she went into the suite for a dress change and they also completely re-did her hair, make-up, shoes, everything. My time of working with Mike and Shinta quickly turned into mere minutes for their portraits. I do appreciate the time given to me to work on taking beautiful pictures but I also have couple who only give me a few minutes.

I learned so much about the Indonesian culture while attending this wedding and I love when couples keep with traditions. One tradition did throw me for a loop though. The bride is fed the cake and then she kisses the groom and puts her cake in his mouth. Unkowingly I got a picture of it too although you don't need to see it :)
